TU Delft opens an academic career-track Assistant Professor position on Mammalian Cell Culture for Food Applications. The position will be embedded in the Dutch National Growth Fund CA program (en.cellulaireagricultuur.nl/growthplan) and based in the Bioprocess Engineering section of TU Delft’s Department of Biotechnology. The section already harbors extensive expertise in mammalian cell culture, advanced bioprocess monitoring, fermentation and process design. The new Assistant Professor will strengthen this expertise by developing a new research line focused on mammalian cell biology and fermentation technology, with the goal to address key challenges in development of sustainable, scalable CA processes.
The focus of the research field to be developed by the Assistant Professor will be on process engineering aspects of large-scale cell cultivation. TU Delft opens an academic career-track Assistant Professor position on Mammalian Cell Culture for Food Applications. The position will be embedded in the Dutch National Growth Fund CA program (en.cellulaireagricultuur.nl/growthplan) and based in the Bioprocess Engineering section of TU Delft’s Department of Biotechnology. The section already harbors extensive expertise in mammalian cell culture, advanced bioprocess monitoring, fermentation and process design. Position: Cell Biologist
Hours: Full time position subject to 6-month probationary period
Reporting: Reports directly to Chief Scientific Officer/Chief Executive Officer
Fixed Salary: Negotiable, based on qualifications and experience
Variable Earnings: Opportunity to earn vested equity
Location: WildBio laboratories, Hartbeespoort, Pretoria, South Africa

• PhD in a relevant field (e.g., Biomedical, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology; Genetic Engineering, Biotechnology, Tissue Engineering) or related fields. An applicant with a MSc and/or appropriate cell culture industry experience will also be considered.
• A minimum of 2 years cell culture, cell characterization and imaging experience.
• Familiarity with cell-based assays, cell viability and proliferation assays, immunocytochemistry and gene modification techniques.
• Previous experience in cell-line development or stem cell research is highly desirable.
• A passion for the conservation of wildlife and wild spaces is a requirement.
• Isolate, culture and characterise primary cell cultures, image and characterize cell populations.
• Implement and maintain sterile cell culture techniques and aseptic practices in a laboratory setting.
• Develop cell-lines suitable for cultivated meat production.
• Design and prepare media for cell culture and cell cryopreservation.
• Employ innovative approaches to enhance cell mass production, efficiency and scalability.
• Collect and analyze data, interpret results, and prepare scientific reports and presentations.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in cell culture techniques, cell-line development, cell mass production, and cultivated meat research.
• Collaborate with relevant partners and stakeholders to ‘leapfrog’ bioprocess
development.

Ark's Data Systems team is hiring a software engineer to build out and own our system integration platform: interfaces between our automation layer and software services, along with the SITL and HITL test systems to make them reliable. The Data Systems team is responsible for everything from production, model-based control software to web-based data monitoring applications. In this role, you'll get the chance to collaborate with Ark's broader team of process scientists and automation engineers, enabling their innovation through a combination of reliable software and fast-paced design iteration.
Ark is building a software platform — ArkOS — enabling continuous process improvement through fast-paced, data-driven innovation, all at manufacturing scale. This entails reliably integrating low-level automation systems, sophisticated control algorithms, and the offline analysis environment our scientists and engineers use to develop Ark's cutting-edge, fit-for-purpose bioreactors. You'll own the interfaces and integration testing infrastructure that will give ArkOS its rock-solid reliability and quick iteration loops.

$140,000 - $160,000 a year
Please note that this salary range is for an applicant who matches the role's requirements. The final cash pay for this role will depend on a variety of factors, including a specific candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, and projected impact.
